Jack rynkede brynene lidt "has she lied to you?" spurgte han lidt overrasket

Gabriel brummede lidt irriteret. "I am not certain I have heard a word of truth from them" sagde han og så ham kidt an. "Or perhaps it is you who I should suspect of dishonesty"

Jack rynkede brynene mere af dette ".. have they mentioned me?"

Gabriel fnøs. "I think they have scarsely said a word that has not been an attempt to make me regret the acquaintances I have made here. That includes you and miss Guillard"

Jack rynkede brynene "they have said ill things of Miss Guillard?" spurgte han lidt overrasket

Gabriel nikkede lidt og så Jack lidt an. "Yes .. I believe that wanted to ensure I did not plan on marrying her. It was not very subtle, although I think it might be true enough". Han kom til at smile lidt

Gabriel blinkede og kom til at grine lidt. "Heh ... then I think it much more understandable that he would speak ill of her. I suppose there is some resentment. She has also made it very clear she has no interest in me"

"Then his feelings must have turned from affection to bitterness with the years... unless there was never any real affection at all" sagde han og rynkede brynene... han så på Gabriel og nikkede lidt, han havde ellers overvejet om Gabriel måske var manden. Gabriel brummede lidt fornøjet af Jack. "Hrm .. she is a handsome woman" sagde han. "I belive that might be where his affections came from. And with that as its source, it can quickly turn bitter"

"Ah yes" Jack nikkede forstående "watching something that you want, just out of reach on a daily basis... you might have to convince yourself that you do not want it at all to keep going" sagde han

Jack blinkede med øjnene "I try to be" han nikkede og rynkede brynene

Gabriel brummede lidt fornøjet. "Hm .. so, have you been doing buisness with -familienavn-?"

Jack rynkede brynene og så lidt utilfreds ud "my father has." sagde han og nikkede "yes."

Gabriel nikkede lidt og så ham an. ".. and it did not go well?"
